Conductor/Musical Director

Jean Postlethwaite

I was born and brought up in Carlisle and was a singing pupil of the late Ena Mitchell and Bel Wybergh. After marriage, I moved away and have always been a member of a choir or choral society.

On returning "home," I became the musical director of the Brampton Players, producing seven musicals with them. I revived the East Cumbria W.I. Choir and sang for numerous organisations over the years. I also founded the Brampton Churches Choir which was a mixed ecunemical choir. Starting with sacred music, it gradually progressed to using more secular items.

Over these years, I also entertained many audiences accompanied by my late husband. At the moment I am running a class for Carlisle University Of The Third Age called "Singing for Pleasure."

All in all - a life of singing!
