Cantonelle Ladies Choir is an amateur
ladies choir based in Carlisle, Cumbria. Cantonelle
arose from the demise of the long established
mixed-voice Carlisle Choral Society in 1993 (see Stop Press article in our News and Concerts
2007/2008 page). The choir currently has about 30
members and is conducted by Darren Williams.

Repertoire
Cantonelle
give 6-8 concerts per year in a variety of venues in
north Cumbria. Our repertoire embraces classical,
operatic, musicals, spirituals and folksongs, some of
the music being specially arranged by our Musical
Director.
Our
programmes also feature items by other local
musicians and instrumental groups and we sometimes
take part in the Carlisle Music Festival. Please
contact the secretary if you would like to book the
choir for your event.
The
choir produced a CD of our work in 2005 with Sean
Rea, our previous conductor. Sean was formerly
principal bass at the English and Welsh National
Operas. Copies can be obtained from the secretary for
£5 (plus £1 post and packing - please make cheques
payable to "Cantonelle"). Click here for
